Visitors enter the tea ceremony room through a small entrance called a “nijiriguchi. It is said that the tea ceremony room was created to be a world of equality, where everyone is equal regardless of gender, age, occupation, status, or position. It is a rare experience to enter the tea ceremony room “Shogenan”, a 2-mat tea ceremony room (4㎡) in a narrow space modeled after the national treasure “Taian” tea ceremony room built by Rikyu.
